The Citizen’s Police Academy is an eight-week orientation program conducted by the Blair Police Department. Classes are one evening a week beginning in September and typically last 2 ½ to 3 hours.
During the academy, students will participate in a series of classes covering a multitude of law enforcement topics including:
- The History of the Blair Police Department
- Police-Community Relations
- Criminal Investigations
- Response to Resistance-Defensive Tactics
- Pursuit Driving and Traffic Stops
- Narcotics Investigations
- Department K9 Program
Participants will also be able to ride with a Blair police officer on patrol and attend firearms training conducted by a state certified firearms instructor.
The benefits of the Citizen’s Police Academy are:
